Growth response of alfalfa to Azomite composite micronutrient fertilizer on four lime‐amended Virginia soils

چکیده

The growth responses of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) to azomite, a natural composite earth mineral, were assessed in greenhouse experiment at Virginia State University, Chesterfield, VA. Alfalfa plants raised on lime-amended Bojac, Bourne, Emporia and Cullen soils that received 224 kg K/ha 14 × 16 cm pots. Azomite, micronutrients fertilizer, was applied 0, 200, 400, 600 kg/ha replicated three times. Over 29 weeks, plant heights forage biomass recorded rates calculated four different cuts. data analyzed using the PROC GLIMMIX procedure SAS 9.3 test for effects soil type azomite performance alfalfa. Results indicate that, compared control, application increased heights, more so Bojac Bourne than soils. This most likely due good water permeability high nutrient activity semi-active sub-active Plant greatest receiving 200 azomite/ha while those rate performed worse control. K-sufficient responded positively azomite/ha, but impacted negatively higher rates.

The Effect of Oil Meal as a Micronutrient Fertilizer in Saline and Non-Saline Soils

A significant amount of the oil meal is produced annually in the oil industry. Oil meal addition into the soil can improve the soil organic matter and micronutrients concentration. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of olive, sesame and black cumin meal (0, 2 and 5 g 100g-1 soil) on the soil Cu, Zn and Fe concentration in saline and non-saline soils by a greenhouse experiment. T...

Hardwood tree growth on amended mine soils in west virginia.

Each year surface mining in Appalachia disrupts large areas of forested land. The Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Act requires coal mine operators to establish a permanent vegetative cover after mining, and current practice emphasizes soil compaction and planting of competitive forage grasses to stabilize the site and control erosion. These practices hinder recolonization of native hardw...

Physiological responses of two tomato (Lycopersicun esculentum M.) cultivars to Azomite fertilizer under drought stress.

This study was conducted in order to investigate the effect of drought stress and Azomite fertilizer on some physiological traits of two tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum M.) cultivars (izmir and Izabella). A randomized complete design with factorial arrangement with three replications was used. Treatments consisted of three levels of irrigation including FC (control), FC (mild drought stress), a...

ABSTRACT- The increasing population and the pastures inability to meet food needs in livestock have led to the increase of cultivates forage plants. In order to evaluate the effect of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and alfalfa (Medicago sativa) extract on the growth and concentration of macronutrient and micronutrient contents of  forage sorghum (Sorghum vulgare), an experiment was...
